As not a few of you may know, a series of the giant earthquakes hit the Kyushu island of Japan since a week ago by which 58 people died and 100,920 people are staying in the temporary shelters till now. We feel very painful to all the people (and living) affected in the area as well as those in Ecuador and all the others in disasters, wars, etc. and hope that the recovery can be done as soon as possible.
The workcamps are organized together with some local groups. Starting with a magnitude-6.5 quake on April 14, a series of major earthquakes have hit the central Kumamoto area, causing deaths, injuries and widespread damage to the area’s residences and infrastructure. Over 30,000 of the houses were damaged and so many people have to be living in the temporary houses. We decide to have the special workcamps in Kumamoto for reconstruction work.
Volunteers may be divided into a few groups, help local farmers, people damaged by the earthquake such as reclaim, cutting grass and harvesting as well as organize some activities for the kids in the temporary houses and do anything else needed.
Aso city is in north east edge of Kumamoto prefecture (very near from Oita). Located in inside of big caldera.
