The Fulbright Foreign Language Teaching Assistant (FLTA) Program offers for the Academic Year 2025-2026 to young teachers or young graduates the opportunity to perfect their teaching methodology and refine their knowledge of the English language and US culture.
To participate in the project you need:
- residence in Italy or, possibly, in a European country;
- three-year degree qualification, obtained in Italy in the three years preceding the deadline of the competition. In particular, the Commission will accept applications from those who have graduated starting from June 2021;
- certifiable teaching experience;
- excellent knowledge of the English language with relevant certification.
The scholarship holders will assist the teacher in teaching the Italian language and/or will run their own course for up to a maximum of 20 hours per week. Attendance at least two university courses per semester is also expected, one of which is in US Studies and the others in subjects related to the teaching of the English language. The scholarship holder will benefit from full coverage of the costs relating to his/her stay and attendance of the two courses.
The stay will last 9 months, in which the beneficiaries of the initiative will have to assist the American teacher in teaching the Italian language or teach their own course up to a maximum of 20 hours per week and will have to attend at least two university courses per semester.
FLTA includes 4 scholarships which include: $5.400 towards living expenses; monthly salary of 500/600 dollars paid by the US university; exemption from paying university fees for attending two university courses per semester; room and board offered by the US university; reimbursement of travel expenses; medical insurance covered by the US Government.
