Our Estonian partner EstYesIn partnership with InformaGiovani IGNet, offers numerous volunteer camp opportunities for young people aged 18-30 who want to have an extraordinary experience of interaction and personal enrichment immersed in nature. A good knowledge of English is required to participate. In detail:
- Il Taevaskoja Youth Camp (infosheet from here), about 220 km from Tallinn, is an adventurous summer camp dedicated to outdoor activities for children. Volunteers' efforts will focus on intercultural learning through the discovery of differences and similarities between Estonia and the participants' countries of origin (history, traditions, language, song, dance). To achieve this goal, games, theatrical performances, sports activities, and discussions will be organized. Volunteers will be able to offer workshops related to their own culture (traditional dances, songs, games, daily life, culinary specialties) for educational or recreational purposes. Accommodation is provided in separate rooms for 2-3 people for volunteers and staff members.

- Another naturalistic proposal is that of theEstonian Fund for Nature (click here for full details), an organization that aims to protect the environment. Its goal is to preserve endangered species and their habitats, as well as the local natural heritage. ELF organizes nature conservation holidays, during which volunteers, participants, and group leaders work together to improve the living conditions of animals such as the natterjack toad and the black stork or to maintain semi-natural communities. At the Palupõhja Nature School, in Alam-Pedja Nature Reserve, Estonia's largest protected area (a true paradise for birdwatchers), management and care of a wooded meadow will also be carried out. Basic accommodations are provided; the second floor houses a room with mattresses for the group (sleeping bags are required). There are no showers or restrooms with running water.
Only one date is scheduled: EST ELF1 Conservation work with Estonian Nature Fund 09.07 – 19.07 ENVI. For 7 volunteers.
- Volunteering at an eco-farm, in contact with nature and animals. A dream that can be realized thanks to the association EstYes which collaborates with organic farms throughout Estonia, important representatives of traditional and/or innovative practices related to agriculture. Kriusilla (Click here to download the information sheet), a small farm located in Anija, in the northern region of Harjumaa, specializing in beekeeping, vegetable growing, and forestry. Volunteers will be involved in forestry work (clearing and weeding the forest, planting trees, and building wooden structures), as well as gardening, harvesting vegetables and honey, and caring for the beehives. Sleeping bags are required for accommodation on the farm. Available dates are:
EST KRI1 KRIUSILLA ORGANIC FARM 1 ANIJA 21.06 – 05.07 AGRI. For 5 volunteers.
EST KRI2 KRIUSILLA ORGANIC FARM 2 ANIJA 26.07 – 09.08 AGRI. For 5 volunteers.
- At the farm of King (click here for full details), which grows berries and vegetables in southern Estonia, volunteers will be able to pick rhubarb, currants, raspberries, and quinces, as well as help with juice production and product packaging. They will also be involved in fertilizing, mowing, pruning, and assisting with the construction of small buildings. They will stay in a separate, independent house.

- Nature and traditions also at Estonian Open-Air Museum (see the sheet with more information here), 8 km west of Tallinn city center, in the Rocca al Mare district. A life-size reconstruction of an 18th-19th century rural/fishing village, including a church, tavern, school, several mills, and net sheds, along with a 20th-century Soviet kolkhoz residential building. Volunteers will be responsible for cleaning the typical Estonian rural utensils, both large and small, exhibited at the museum, which will be moved from a warehouse to an outdoor tented area. Accommodation will be available in several rooms in the administrative building; please bring a sleeping bag.
