Art and Participation: A Youth Exchange on Theatre and Social Dialogue in Samobor

Theatre as a tool for personal expression and a driver of social change is at the centre of “Between screens and stars: Citizens of Universe”, a youth exchange organized by our Croatian partner Pozitiva Samobor and funded by the Erasmus+ Programme, will take place in Samobor, Croatia from June 15 to 23. The initiative will involve girls and young people in exploring non-formal education methodologies to promote inclusion and active citizenship through drama.

The program and methodologies

The project's goal is to foster empathy and understanding of crucial issues such as diversity, social responsibility, and youth participation in democratic life, transforming art into a bridge between people.
The activity focuses on the use of theatrical and dramaturgical techniques as tools for intercultural dialogue. Participants will work individually and in groups to develop performances inspired by personal experiences and social issues relevant to their communities through techniques such as:

  • Theatre pedagogy and improvisation;

  • Storytelling and collective script creation;

  • Forum Theatre and role-playing games.

Recipients and requirements

The opportunity is aimed at young people aged 18 and 30 years Residents of Italy. No previous experience in acting or performing arts is required. The main requirements include a willingness to work in a team and an openness to intercultural dialogue.

Logistics

Food and lodging will be provided by the host organization Pozitiva Samobor. Further details will be provided to the selected participants later.
The activities will take place in Greenville, an educational center in the historic town of Samobor, a short distance from Zagreb. Accommodation will be in shared rooms (2 to 6 people).

Terms
For participation in Erasmus+ projects InformaGiovani International insurance coverage is mandatory, costing €30 and valid for one year. A €20 deposit is also required, which will be refunded at the end of the project, subject to completion of all required documentation and submission of all travel documents. Travel costs are reimbursed up to a maximum limit determined by mileage, as set forth in the Erasmus+ program.
