There's still time at 9 September 2025 to participate in the2026 edition of the European Prize for Cultural Heritage/Europa Nostra Awards, a European recognition awarded annually for excellence in the field of conservation and valorization of cultural heritage.
The competition will award up to 30 projects, among which 5 Grand Prix winners will be selected and will be awarded 10 thousand euros. There will also be a Public Choice Award, which will be recognized by the public through the Europa Nostra website and will also receive a sum of 10 thousand euros.
You can compete in 5 categories:
- conservation and adaptive reuse: concerns projects that aim at the conservation, regeneration and adaptation to new uses of cultural heritage, including cultural landscapes.
- Research: for innovative research projects that produce tangible effects for the protection and enhancement of cultural heritage.
- Education, training and skills: concerns projects or initiatives that aim to promote the transfer of knowledge, the development of capacities and/or the improvement of traditional and new skills and professions related to heritage.
- Citizen engagement and awareness raising: on heritage-based projects that promote social cohesion, inclusion, dialogue and multicultural understanding.
- Heritage Champions: Individuals or organizations that demonstrate a level of dedication, impact and civic engagement in the preservation and enhancement of cultural heritage.
The competition is open to applications from countries eligible for the Creative Europe programme, Culture section, namely: EU Member States; EFTA/EEA countries (Liechtenstein, Iceland and Norway); Candidate and potential candidate countries (Albania, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Georgia, Kosovo, North Macedonia, Montenegro, Serbia, Ukraine); Neighbourhood Policy countries (Armenia and Tunisia).
