Hi! My name is Diana, I'm 28 years old and I'm from Budapest, Hungary. I've spent the last five months volunteering at Gaia Terra, an ecovillage and community in northern Italy. I decided to participate in the program. ESC I decided to volunteer because, after working for a long time as a project manager, I felt the need for a change. I decided I wanted to be closer to nature, experience a different lifestyle, and meet new people in an international environment.
During my stay at Gaia Terra, I took on various tasks and learned new things about permaculture, vegan cooking, eco-friendly building, and gardening. I learned a lot about community life, as at Gaia Terra we all lived together as a community, with its ups and downs. I was surrounded by wonderful people, with whom I did incredible things, but at the same time, it was difficult to focus on my tasks and projects, which weren't tied to the location. At the end of my volunteering, however, I found the right place, time, and situation to pursue my personal goals in the best possible way.
I highly recommend trying the experience ESC, because through this program it is possible to access a world that would otherwise be difficult to know and see aspects of life that might remain invisible.ESC It offers the opportunity to try your hand at a completely different field without any prior practical experience. In those five months, I was able to decide whether I wanted to delve deeper into this sector or not, without having to pay for school or training and without the challenges of today's job market.
Since travel, accommodation, and food expenses were covered, and I also had an expense reimbursement, I felt free from any worries and could focus solely on my learning journey. The cultural and linguistic exchange was very interesting for me. I believe the experience ESC You'll learn much more about life, community, and problem-solving than just working or studying, or both. Plus, you can feel secure because you'll be supported by the EU, your sending organization, and your host organization.
