The James Dyson Award, international design competition that puts the next generations of engineers at the centre, or rather ahead. It is aimed at students and recent graduates in engineering and is promoted by the James Dyson Foundation, the charity of the founder of the same name. In particular, the prize is open to: university students/students of the faculties of product design, industrial design or engineering and to those who have obtained a degree in these disciplines in the last 4 years.
In order to participate in the JDA, competitors must upload the project of their invention on the dedicated web page and register. It is up to the participants to ensure that their registration contains at least:
- the name of the invention;
- a brief description outlining its main purpose and function, and explaining the problem being solved and how to solve it;
- an explanation of what inspired the invention and the participant's personal motivation;
- an explanation of how the invention works;
- an explanation of the development process adopted by the participant/team to develop the invention;
- an explanation of the novelty of the invention and what distinguishes it from other products already on the market;
- an explanation of future plans for the invention, including further development in terms of design;
- low-resolution images of the following items (for example): sketches; projects; 3D models or photorealistic 3D CAD prototypes and renderings (optional); a high resolution (300 dpi) image of the invention on a white background.
Participants must also make every effort to provide a video of the idea or prototype in action. The deadline for submitting applications is July 17th, 2024. Click here to view the site and develop your invention
