"Let's Disarm the Present. Humanity Between Algorithms, Dialogue, and Nonviolence." The initiative—a training camp for 16 young people aged between 18 and 25—was developed by Fossoli Foundation and the PacificAzioni Committee. The residential camp will involve young people from all over Italy and is linked to one of the symbolic places of national memory: the Fossoli Camp, which between December 1943 and August 1944 was a special concentration camp for Jews and later became a Polizei und Durchgangslager, used by the SS as an antechamber to the Nazi concentration camps.
'Peace on the pitch' will take place fromJuly 6-13, 2026 In a large facility in Sant'Antonio in Mercadello, a few kilometers from Campo di Fossoli. A week to explore the method of nonviolence, learn conflict management techniques, discuss disarmament, and analyze new technological challenges.
In the current geopolitical context, characterized by multiple conflict scenarios that pose risks to global society, it is necessary to question and reflect on humanity's future prospects. Divergences between peoples, religions, and cultures, as well as the imbalance between wealth and poverty and the unequal distribution of natural resources, pose complex challenges. It is essential to explore alternative strategies to the use of force to resolve conflicts. The camp aims to be a tool for raising awareness and engaging in active dialogue to promote a culture of peace.
The experience includes high-level training, workshops, and interactions with experts, academics, and activists: an immersive journey through community life and ongoing dialogue. Food, accommodation and transfers are covered. – not the travel expenses to get to Carpi (Modena) and for the return to one's residence.
