The action of individual mobility offers financial support to individuals traveling for 7 to 60 days or to groups of up to 5 people, traveling for 7 to 21 days to a single destination, and without interrupting their mobility.

Three calls for proposals for all sectors covered by “Culture moves Europe” between autumn and spring (until January 2025). Calls for proposals are published regularly in European tender portal.

The individual mobility action is open to all artists and cultural professionals (established or with their first experiences) at least 18 years old and legally resident in the countries participating in the Creative Europe Programme.

The proposed project must be carried out with a partner chosen from among the Creative Europe countries (therefore not with your country of residence). The partner can be a colleague (artist) or an organization in the destination country. To confirm this partnership relationship a letter of invitation, a co-production agreement or similar document is sufficient.

Specifically, projects should pursue at least one of the following objectives:

  • to explore: explore Europe's rich cultural heritage to inform, direct or inspire your creativity;
  • to create: co-create or co-develop art with artists or cultural professionals from other countries;
  • to learn: participate in non-formal learning;
  • to connect: develop or deepen international professional relationships.

“Culture moves Europe” offers a travel allowance, a daily allowance and individual supplements. Grants are calculated individually for each beneficiary, based on the project and personal situation.

The travel allowance varies depending on the travel distance and the means of transport used, based on tables established by the Programme.

You may travel at any time within 12 months of signing the grant agreement. Before the end of the mobility period, usually within two weeks, you must complete an online questionnaire similar to the application one.

To apply must be used portal of the Goethe-Institut. It is possible to submit an application only once for each "active" period; Furthermore, it is possible to receive only one grant from "Culture moves Europe" as part of the action for individual mobility.

The following questions represent a general criterion for evaluating projects; if the proposals provide adequate answers to one or more of the questions listed here, you are on the right track:

  • Does the project meet one of the objectives of “Culture Moves Europe” and enable the applicant to explore, create, learn or connect internationally?
  • Is mobility necessary to achieve the desired outcome of the project?
  • Has the project been sufficiently planned and prepared with the international partner? Is the required duration necessary to achieve the project objective?
  • Does the project take sustainability into account, for example through green transport or the use of sustainable materials?
  • Will the mobility have a long-term beneficial impact, for example for the applicant's professional development or for the community where the project takes place?
