La Directorate General for Contemporary Creativity of the Ministry of Culture, in collaboration with the Directorate General for the Promotion of the Country System and with the Directorate General for Public and Cultural Diplomacy of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation and with the network of Italian Cultural Institutes abroad, promotes residency awards for young Italian creatives in the fields of art, architecture, design and curating.

The awards currently open for nominations are:

  • New York Prize for Visual Arts: the Italian Cultural Institute of New York, from the Italian Academy for Advanced Studies in America at Columbia University, offers two Italian artists/artists, under the age of 40 years, the possibility of realizing an educational and artistic experience.   • Berlin Prize for Contemporary Architecture: the award offers two young emerging architects, with research experience on the themes of urban reuse and regeneration in peripheral areas, and with knowledge of the English language, the opportunity to spend six months in Berlin, Germany.   • Vienna Prize on performance art: a residency program aimed at young Italian artists. The competition is reserved for those born after 31 December 1988. The two winners will be offered the opportunity to spend a period of six months in Vienna. For more information click here.
  • Barcelona Award for eco-sustainable design: offers two young Italian/e emerging designers, with research experience on eco-design themes, the opportunity to spend six months in Barcelona in Spain. For more information click here.
  • Stockholm Prize: dedicated to the themes of sustainability and eco-innovation in the fashion design sector. It offers two six-month scholarships in Sweden, to explore the themes of sustainable fashion design, from the reuse and recycling of materials to intelligent fabrics.
