The youth exchange took place in Grünheide-Kagel “Soul Kitchen” organized by Lernlabor on the importance of food and cooking for personal well-being, the expression of one's culture and the environmental impact.
Our volunteers who participated in the activity returned to Italy with a wealth of new knowledge and emotions that they describe as follows:
“The two weeks spent together meant for me a journey of growth, of a lot of sharing and strong emotions. Surrounded by nature and dispersed far from the world, we created deep bonds, also thanks to cooking. With every dish we shared and discovered cultures, people, ideas, traditions, feelings, perspectives”.
“In this little utopia called zebra kagel, people from different countries and cultures found themselves in a space where borders were torn down. There we learned to open up, to share what we are passionate about: from food, to sports, to music, through meditation and we made cooking a way to show affection, all surrounded by nature, the starry sky of August and with the smell of freshly cooked food.”
“Soul Kitchen was an unforgettable 13-day Erasmus, spent in a beautiful accommodation immersed in the woods just a few steps from a lake, a frequent destination for our relaxing walks. The most exciting part was cooking together with people from different countries, exploring the themes of food through our cultures and gastronomic traditions. In addition to cooking, we had fun with ping pong and football matches, alternating moments of play with deep discussions and cultural exchanges, all in a place that seemed to come out of a movie and that made the experience truly special.”
