Highlighting theses that deal with issues that are crucial to the future of the planet and its inhabitants: the Laura Conti Award aims to discover and publicize the best works on the environment, education, safety, savings and solidarity. The initiative, now in its fifth edition, was launched by ICU Foundation of Venice and recalls the emblematic figure of Laura Conti, a pioneer of environmental issues in the sixties.

The aim of the Award is to promote and disseminate degree theses that focus in particular on issues such as:

  • saving and fighting waste.
  • Parks, nature tourism and environmental restoration.
  •  Economic tools for more sustainable consumption.
  •  Smart mobility, urban and extra-urban.
  •  Urban and industrial waste, reduction and recycling.
  • Sustainable society, planetary and local problems.
  •  Renewable energy and energy saving.
  •  Environmental education.
  •  Environmental health prevention.
  •  Environmental and consumer legislation.
  •  Relationship between human species and other animal species.
  •  Solidarity economy and fair trade.
  •  User and consumer safety.
  •  Water, air and soil pollution, reduction and prevention.
  •  Ecological, nonviolent, user and consumer movements and struggles.
  •  Information and “transparency” in the market, advantages and disadvantages of competition.
  •  Eco Pacifism.

Cash prizes will be awarded: 1000 euros for the winner, 500 euros for second place and 250 euros for third place and several other special prizes. The best works will become books published by the Ecoistituto del Veneto, or by the ICU Foundation, while others will be published in the Gaia magazine. Theses of all levels are admitted, including doctoral and Master's theses, discussed in Italian universities, in the academic years from 2010-2011 onwards, sent by 30 November 2024.
