“Healthy social volunteering: ESC for active lifestyles, citizenship and social fairness (HeSoESC)” is a project funded by the European Union as part of the European Solidarity Corps programme. Its aim is to promote volunteering, encourage active and healthy lifestyles and support socially vulnerable individuals and vulnerable groups through solidarity initiatives.
The project involved five European organizations and local partners from Italy, France, the Czech Republic, and Spain.
The project included 12 activities involving approximately 140 volunteers, including young people from disadvantaged backgrounds. Volunteer activities provided support to vulnerable social groups (homeless people, refugees and migrants, and young people from socially disadvantaged backgrounds) whose living conditions were indirectly impacted by the pandemic and the measures implemented to contain the spread of the virus.
The activities were accompanied by an information and awareness initiative on the topic of volunteering, in collaboration with the CESVOP – Palermo Volunteer Service Center.
