The 2025 edition of starts Youth Hacking 4 Freedom, initiative thought up laid down by the Free Software Foundation Europe – a non-profit organization that supports free software at a European level and represents the core of a federation of national associations present in various European countries -. It is a programming competition for the development of free software that is aimed at European girls and boys. An idea that will give girls the opportunity to program their own project – individually or in a team – and make new friends, winning prizes of up to 4 thousand euros.
The fourth round of YH4F will start on January 1, 2025, challenging participants to develop autonomous programs written from scratch or, if already existing, modified and/or combined. For six months, participants – who must have been born between January 1, 2005 and December 31, 2009 – will have the opportunity to work on their own free software project, alone or in a group. The software to be developed can solve an everyday problem or can simply be a game. The essential condition for the competition is that the program is free to use, so that others can study, share and improve the code in the future.
During the programming period, you can develop your project idea and work on the code or hardware. You can register until 30 2025 June. Click here for all the details
