Summer 2022: Discover Sicily and its nature through international volunteering. Without costs with the financial support of EU.

InformaGiovani is offering to  volunteers aged 18-30 the opportunity to join its international Volunteering Teams activity in Sicily during the summer of 2022. All activites are implemented in the frame of the European Solidarity Corps.

The activities will be implemented in two Oriented Nature Reserves (Biviere di Gela and Isola delle Femmine, in collaboration with Italian League for birds Protection) and in Geraci, a small mountain town in the Madonie Park. Volunteers will live an international experience through which they will support local operators in the maintenance and restoration of green areas and to raise awareness on environmental issues.

Participation is completely free: all activities are carried out within the European Solidarity Corps project - Volunteering Teams in High Priority Areas "Greening the present, saving the future" supported by the European Commission.

Geraci Siculo

In collaboration with the Municipality, the volunteers will be involved in the cleaning and maintenance of public areas, the area of the ruins of a castle and a path in the woods. Volunteers will work alongside local volunteers and public administration workers responsible for the green areas.

Biviere di Gela Nature Reserve

Volunteers will support the staff of the Nature Reserve managed by LIPU in the maintenance of the site and facilities for visitors and information signs to promote and facilitate the sustainable use of the area.

Isola delle Femmine   Nature Reserve

Volunteers will support the staff of the Nature Reserve managed by LIPU in the restoration of the flora, maintenance of the existing vegetation (watering the plants), maintenance of the protected area (reconstruction of the stone paths) and cleaning of the coasts of the island.

Volunteers' profile

• legally resident (of any nationality) in one of the EU27 countries, plus Iceland, North Macedonia, Turkey, Liechtenstein, Albania, Algeria, Armenia, Azerbaijan, Belarus, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Egypt, Georgia, Israel, Jordan, Kosovo, Lebanon, Libya, Moldova, Montenegro, Morocco, Norway, Palestine, Russia, Serbia, Syria, Tunisia, Ukraine
• aged between 18 and 30 years
• interested in environmental issues
• interested in living an intercultural experience
• able    to teamwork and flexible
• able to adapt to simple housing conditions

 
General conditions

• Travel expenses: 100% reimbursed up to Euro 360.00 (based on distance band calculator).   Travel tickets will be  reimbursed upon complete participation in the project.
• Board and lodging: provided by InformaGiovani (for specific conditions, see the document "2022 InformaGiovani - ESC Volunteering Teams ")
• Pocket money: volunteers will be provided with a daily sum of Euro 5.00 for the duration of the activity (total Euro 80.00)
• Insurance: volunteers will be enrolled in Cigna insurance scheme provided by the EU Commission
• Group: it will be composed of 12 volunteers and a group leader who will facilitate group dynamics, task management and free time. There will be a local contact person responsible for the work activities.

It is mandatory to submit your candidature for AT LEAST TWO DIFFERENT PROJECTS, in order of preference.
