Digital actions and Social change
Tool for an active citizenship "in and off line"
Project proposal under Europe for Citizens.
Deadline 2nd of September 2019
Deadline 2nd of September 2019
Social media platforms provide people all over the world with an unprecedented ability to organize around social and active citizenship causes. However, these same platforms have been at the centre of the debate for the negative influence they played in several democratic occasions in Europe and beyond.
Once hailed as new extraordinary tools of active democracy and participation, and still today positively used for several campaigns, social networks have increasingly been accused of becoming a danger to democracy, above all for the possible distorted use that is made of them, affecting democratic and electoral processes.
With the current project proposal, we want to promote the implementation of some activities in different European countries, aimed at proposing a responsible and critical use of online social platforms and at the same time showing the need for online activism to be always connected to active citizenship expressed in the field.
Namely, we would like to organize one training course / seminar in each involved country during 2020, on the use of social networks/platforms for online activism, promoting intercultural and intergenerational dialogue and social cohesion.
So, the meetings will also be an opportunity to promote forms of active citizenship "in the field" starting from those offered by the "European Solidarity Corps" program and presenting local volunteer actions and projects that take place in a European perspective. And it will be an opportunity to share practices and think about new ways to act for social change.
In a second phase of the project, we will ask partners from each country to create a campaign, one for each country, that must be created and supported online but concluded with concrete actions on the field in 2020 or 2021. The campaign must include the topics of intercultural dialogue, solidarity between different countries and origins and promoting international volunteering as a European value.
Finally, and as a tool to disseminate its results, in each country we will organize a high visibility event, which will include two parts:
Each partner should be available to host one meeting (seminar/training) in its country during the year 2020 and one dissemination public event between 2020 and 2021. Each partner must have the capacity to plan, organize, set and lead the on/off line campaign, of course with the support of Informagiovani and all other partners of the project.
Previous experience on the specific field and the availability of trainers/speakers will be welcome, but is not compulsory.
