A villa that changes profession
Along Viale Regione Siciliana in Palermo there is a villa that for years has been a symbol of one of the darkest periods of the city: it was the "modest home" (17 rooms, almost 500 square meters) of one of the leading figures of the Sack of PalermoToday it is part of one of the largest estates ever confiscated in Italy, over 150 million euros returned to the community.
After clearing the outside area, we are about to begin the renovation and adaptation work. We'll begin in the coming weeks, first with our own resources and then with the contributions of many citizens, foundations, and public entities. Because over twenty-five years of working with the young people of this city have taught us that things happen when someone decides to start.
What will we achieve?
Over 460 square meters of indoor space and large outdoor green spaces will become the International Center for Youth Information, Non-Formal Education, Social Inclusion and Participation:
- Information and training area, with the Eurodesk Center and Europe Direct CenterEurope and its opportunities for study, work, volunteering, and mobility, accessible to all, open to neighborhoods and cities. Spaces open to the public, accessible to all.
- Laboratory area and recreational, sports and play activities, open to young people and families
- Hospitality area, for local and international groups for residential cultural, social and educational activities
- Equipped green social garden external, looked after by those who frequent the Centre
- Office area
A home for associations and the third sector
A little one will also be born hostel, designed for Italian and foreign associations that want to organize meetings, exchanges, and residential activities in Palermo. Outside of market logic and to create a social economy that supports the community: solidarity tariffs, built on the social value of those who use them and not on the market, with local and neighborhood services and staff.

All the activities of the Centre will be free for participants and beneficiaries, as have always been those carried out by InformaGiovani.
We will be joined by many friends who are sharing this journey: San Giovanni Apostolo ETS, Diocesan Caritas of Palermo, USSM, Carabinieri Military Union, schools, Municipality of Palermo, together with foreign partners of the European IGNet networkBecause everyone can add a small piece to this path of liberation.
