Il Program Erasmus+ 2021-2027, in the overall framework of political and operational priorities of the European Commission and as part of the European Youth Strategy with its 11 objectives, sets some specific objectives.
As far as the youth world is concerned, these objectives are those of promote mobility for non-formal and informal learning, active participation of young people, as well as cooperation, quality, inclusion, creativity and innovation at the level of organizations and policies in the youth sector.
The priorities
In the implementation of these objectives, some priorities are then identified, which specifically are:
- Inclusion and Diversity
The Program aims to promote equal opportunities and equal access, inclusion, diversity and equality in all its actions. Organizations and participants with fewer opportunities have tools and resources available to facilitate participation and make the Program a tool for overcoming difficulties.
In order to implement these principles, a Framework of measures for inclusion and Strategy for inclusion and diversity covering all areas of the programme, aimed at enabling a wider range of organizations to access funds more easily and to more effectively involve a greater number of participants with fewer opportunities. - Digital transformation
The COVID-19 pandemic has further highlighted the importance of digital education for the digital transformation Europe needs and, at the same time, the need for skills and knowledge that foster a critical and informed use of digital tools. Adhering to the strategic priorities of Digital Education Action Plan (2021-2027), the program aims to support this effort to engage learners, educators, youth workers, young people and organizations in the journey towards digital transformation. - Environment and fight against climate change
The environment and climate action are key priorities for the EU now and in the future. The communication entitled "The European Green Deal” is the new European strategy for growth and recognizes the centrality of the role played by the formal and non-formal education system in building a dialogue on the changes necessary for the success of the transition towards climate neutrality by 2050. Furthermore, the Council recommendation on learning for the green transition Stresses the need to provide opportunities for learners of all ages to acquire knowledge about the climate crisis and sustainability in both formal and non-formal education and to make learning for the green transition a priority in policies and in education and training programmes.
The program supports the use of innovative practices designed to make learners, staff and youth workers real agents of change. Furthermore, priority will be given to projects that promote behavioral changes in terms of individual preferences, cultural values and awareness and, more generally, promote active commitment to sustainable development. - Participation in democratic life, common values and civic commitment
The Erasmus+ program aims to provide answers to citizens' limited participation in democratic processes and their lack of knowledge of the European Union. To do this, the Program can help overcome the difficulties that make it difficult to engage in one's own communities or in the political and social life of the Union and to participate actively in it. In addition to formal education, non-formal learning can improve this knowledge and foster a sense of European belonging.
In implementing this priority it is useful to refer to Strategy for youth participation developed by the SALTO Network.
