Erasmus+ promotes the organization of non-profit sports events with a European footprint.
Through this action, which is managed by the European Agency EACEA, the events themselves or collateral events and activities can be directly supported, in particular in these fields:
- volunteering in the sports sector
- social integration through sport
- combating discrimination in sport, including gender equality
- promotion of sports participation and physical exercise.
With the financial support of Erasmus+, within the European non-profit initiatives, it is possible to include costs relating to:
- event planning and management
- development of educational programs for athletes, coaches, organizers and volunteers before the event
- creation of collateral events at the sporting event (conferences, workshops)
- training of volunteers
- implementation of post-event activities for analysis and future planning (evaluations, design)
- communicative actions relating to the theme of the event
To be recognized as "European sporting events", at least one of the following conditions must be met: either they take place in a single country with the presence of international participants (Events of European scope), or they take place only with participants national, but in more countries (European events at local level).
In the case of local events, you can choose between smaller events (with a minimum of 3 and a maximum of 5 organisations/countries involved) and events with more than 6 organisations/countries.
For European-wide events, it is necessary to involve at least 10 organizations from 10 different countries.
The overall duration of the projects in all their phases, which must be indicated at the time of application based on the objectives and planned activities, must be 12 or 18 months.
