Il Fulbright-Schuman Program is managed by Commission for Cultural Exchange between the United States, Belgium, and Luxembourg Co-funded by the European Commission's Directorate-General for Education and Culture and the U.S. Department of Education, it offers a concrete opportunity for European researchers to undertake research visits at U.S. universities and research centers to develop projects on topics related to relations between Europe and the United States.

The expected duration is a minimum of 3 and a maximum of 9 months. Scholarships are available to European citizens who act as cultural ambassadors for their country during their stay in the United States and who are:

  • students of a doctoral course;
  • PhDs;
  • university professors;
  • experts in the field of International Education Administration at Italian and European universities or research centers.

The Fulbright–Schuman program offers a variable number of scholarships, up to €3 per month, for research stays at US campuses. Each scholarship includes €2 to cover travel expenses and transfers between Italy and the United States, medical insurance funded by the US Department of State, and J-1 visa sponsorship.
