The internship program of the FAO  – Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations, which includes 194 Member States, 2 Associate Members and one international organization, namely the European Union – offers traineeship participants a unique learning opportunity to enhance their academic knowledge and skills through a work assignment in a field related to their activities. FAO is a specialized body of the United Nations Organization that aims to raise levels of nutrition, increase agricultural productivity, improve the lives of rural populations and contribute to improving global economic conditions.

The minimum requirements to participate in theInternship Program for FAO headquarters (HQ) in Rome are:

  •  be enrolled in a bachelor's or master's degree program at a bona fide educational institution at the time of application or be a recent graduate. FAO only considers higher education qualifications obtained from an institution accredited/recognized in the World Higher Education Database (WHED).
  • Excellent knowledge of at least one FAO language (Arabic, Chinese, English, French, Russian or Spanish). Knowledge of a second FAO language will be considered an advantage.
  • Be citizens of FAO members.
  • be between the ages of 21 and 30.

The stays will last between 3 and 11 months. Interns will receive a monthly salary of approximately 700 dollars and health insurance (related to the internship).
