The winners of the competition are hired on a provisional basis and appointed by decree of the Minister of Foreign Affairs to perform probationary service. The announcement of the Maeci is the first step of the path aimed at undertaking a diplomatic career: at the end of the probationary period, the initial level of the path is accessed.
To submit the application you must have the following requirements:
- age not exceeding 35 years;
- psycho-physical suitability such as to allow one to carry out diplomatic activity both at the central administration and in foreign offices;
- master's degree or specialist degree – among those expressly indicated in the announcement.
The selection procedure includes an aptitude test; evaluation of qualifications; written and oral exams and optional language tests. Applications can be submitted until 26 April 2026.
