La European Commission has launched the new call for proposals for the tender Citizens' engagement and participation 2026 CERV 2026 CITIZENS CIV, as part of the Citizens, Equality, Rights and Values Programme CERV, with the aim of strengthening citizen participation in the democratic and civic life of the Union. The call promotes projects that directly involve citizens and civil society organizations in public debate and European decision-making processes.
It is divided into three main priorities:
- Support free, fair and inclusive electoral processes – focusing on election information and electoral rights while fully respecting Member States' competences in organising elections.
- Promote active citizen engagement and democratic participation in public policymaking, beyond elections, as well as broader civic engagement.
- Counter the spread of disinformation, manipulation, and foreign information interference (FIMI) in democratic debate and processes.
The various applicants include private non-profit legal entities, public universities from eligible countries, and international organizations. Projects must involve citizens from diverse backgrounds and foster discussion on issues related to European policies, contributing to a better understanding of EU decision-making processes and strengthening democratic dialogue.
The deadline for submitting proposals is set for 29 April 2026. Click here to learn more
