Il Joint Research Centre of the European Commission The Joint Research Centre (JRC) – the Commission's in-house science service, which provides independent, evidence-based technical advice and support for EU policies – has opened applications for internships in various fields, such as environment, artificial intelligence, energy, health, social sciences, and others. The internships will last five months and will take place in Italy and other European countries: Geel (Belgium); Karlsruhe (Germany); Petten (Netherlands); Ispra (Varese, Italy); and Seville (Spain) – and will be paid up to €1.740 per month. Specifically, the operational sectors are:

  • environment and climate.
  • Energy sustainability.
  • Security, ICT, cybersecurity, and law enforcement technologies.
  • Data management and analysis, research, and applications for evidence-based decision making.
  • Artificial intelligence, machine learning, and complex systems.
  • Space technologies, secure connectivity, and geoinformation.
  • Health and consumer protection.
  • Transport science and sustainable mobility.
  • Social and political sciences, geopolitics, democracy, scientific communication, economic and financial resilience.
  • Behavioral sciences, research management, economics and education.
  • Nuclear science and technology, radiochemistry, and radiation protection.

The call is open to citizens of European Union member states or countries associated with the Research Framework Programmes who have the following qualifications: a bachelor's degree (at least a three-year degree), obtained within the last 5 years; excellent knowledge of English (at least level C1) and a good knowledge of another EU language (at least B2).
