Hello everyone!

My name is Tim, I was born in Germany, but I also have Greek roots. I was 19 when I decided to look for a volunteer opportunity in Europe and finally found one that was perfect for me. The activity offered by InformaGiovani It allowed me to integrate my personal goals and strengths into the Centro Tau youth center.

Although before arriving I was uncertain about what might happen in the next nine months, I was also enthusiastic and ready to face anything. I quickly realized that, although uncertainty is part of volunteering, there was no need to worry. The day we arrived, we immediately felt a good connection among the volunteers, both among ourselves and with the previous "generation." ESC” who supported us and gave us advice before returning to their home countries.

Not just the first day at home ESC, but even the first day at Centro Tau was fantastic. Although it was a little difficult at first to understand and converse with a basic knowledge of Italian, we managed to improve our skills significantly. Furthermore, by giving piano lessons and supporting a musical activity, I was able to make friends, learn ways to share knowledge, and, of course, experience the culture of Palermo. We even organized a small concert at Centro Tau, performing the songs we'd been working on in the previous weeks (my favorite moment).

However, especially by meeting other volunteers, students, and locals, taking guided tours, and discovering the region with friends or alone, I gained valuable skills that are still useful to me today!

Palermo is a truly unique and diverse place, with its own beautiful and unique sides. Especially for those who love a rich culture, extraordinary food, and exciting nightlife, along with stunning nature, Palermo is the place to be!
