Hi, I'm Marco, I'm 25 years old, I'm from Palermo and I've worked as a 6 month in-country volunteering at the Association San Giovanni Apostolo ETS thanks to the European Solidarity Corps Programme co-financed by the EU. I decided to participate in the programme ESC definitely to be able to improve my skills, to get to know new realities and take time for myself.

The main activity I carry out is teaching support for elementary school children and transversal activities that aim to promote active citizenship. One of the most important activities for my experience is participating in the day of remembrance at via d'Amelio, the place where judge Paolo Borsellino was killed.

The best moments were when I realized that I was appreciated by both the children and the host community. 

The difficulties I had were my anxiety and panic issues in having to face new challenges, which I slowly overcame also thanks to what the children passed on to me. 

The most important task that the association carries out is to support young people with difficult economic and family situations in building new alternative life paths. I consider myself lucky to be part of this association and I hope to be able to do other beautiful things together with them.

I would recommend the program ESC because it offers many opportunities and allows you to grow in terms of knowledge. This experience left a huge mark on me and I would definitely do it again.
