The work of the Representations is complemented by the Europe Direct centres, which provide information and communicate with citizens at regional and local level throughout the EU.

The European Parliament's Liaison Offices play a key role in translating the institution's work into ongoing dialogue with citizens and local communities. Their task is to highlight the impact of European decisions on daily life and foster citizen participation in the Union's democratic process.

The Offices organize information and awareness-raising activities aimed at citizens, manage relations with national, regional, and local media, and offer support to MEPs in the exercise of their functions in their respective countries.

Through constant listening and information efforts, the Liaison Offices help citizens better understand what the European Parliament is, its functions, and how its decisions impact their daily lives.

In this perspective, the Offices:

  • they build and animate networks of citizens interested in the European debate;
  • they carry out communication campaigns, events and exhibitions;
  • they promote discussion on current European issues to encourage democratic participation;
  • They provide information on the role of the European Parliament and respond to citizens' requests.

The Liaison Offices collaborate with national, regional, and local authorities, civil society organizations, association networks, schools and universities, think tanks, sectoral organizations, and other European institutions.
