The European Commission has welcomed the political agreement reached between the European Parliament and the Council of the European Union to implement thetrade agreement between the EU and the United States.

The agreement includes two regulations that provide for the elimination of tariffs on U.S. industrial goods and preferential access to the European market for certain agricultural and fishery products from the United States.

The measure is part of the commitments made in the EU-US Joint Declaration of 21 August 2025 and aims to make transatlantic trade relations more stable, fair and predictable.

The agreed texts will now need to be formally adopted by the European Parliament and the Council, with the aim of facilitating the rapid entry into force of the new provisions.

According to the Commission, the agreement represents an important step in strengthening trade dialogue between the two sides of the Atlantic and paving the way for new forms of cooperation, also in view of possible further tariff reductions on European exports.

The agreement therefore aims to strengthen trade between the EU and the United States, while protecting European economic interests and offering greater certainty to businesses and market operators.
